    Yes. The Certification Exam is the final step of the course and requires a minimum score of 80% to pass. You have unlimited attempts, and if you leave before finishing, your next login will resume from the last unanswered question.

    What is a California Boater Card Application ID?

    Online courses are required to Auto E-File exam results directly to DBW. Our system ties your exam results to a DBW Application ID # for seamless processing of your Boater Card. You must have an Application ID # before taking the final exam to help this process. Go to the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways website to apply for an Application ID Number. You’ll need to enter your Application ID into our system prior to taking the final exam and completing the course.

    How do I prove I completed the California Boater Card course with Take My Boat Test?

    After you successfully complete the course, Take My Boat Test automatically submits your completion information to the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways using your official Course ID. The State of California then processes and mails your permanent California Boater Card directly to you.


    What is the California Boater Card?

    The California Boater Card is a lifetime card issued by the State of California verifying you have met all boating education requirements. The card does not expire and only needs to be earned once.


    Can I operate a boat while waiting for my California Boater Card to arrive?

    Once you have successfully completed the course and the approval of your application has been submitted to the state, you will receive a 90 day temporary boaters card while waiting for your permanent card to arrive that will allow you to operate a motorized vessel.
